Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Hannah Yeoh confirmed that the Federal Territory Forgiveness Institution (LPWP) will convene at 8:30 AM tomorrow, according to a report by Bernama. However, Yeoh, a member of the institution, declined to comment further. "I can confirm tomorrow at 8:30 AM that there will be a meeting of the forgiveness institution," she said to journalists after attending a program.

On the previous day, sources said that former Prime Minister Najib Razak's petition would likely be among the topics discussed in the LPWP meeting this week. It is unclear, though, whether the meeting will make a decision or merely discuss the petition. Another source added that Najib may be allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest, though it is not clear if this would be considered in the meeting.

Najib, 72, was convicted six years ago for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International. He was fined RM210 million and sentenced to 12 years in prison, which he's currently serving at Kajang Prison since August 2022. The Federal Court recently denied Najib's request to serve the remaining six-year sentence under house arrest under the supervision of a guardian.
