Domino’s Pizza is closing stores: See a list of locations that abruptly shuttered in an apparent franchise fallout

Several Domino's Pizza stores have abruptly closed their doors in Ohio, potentially signaling a franchisee's financial struggles. The restaurants, owned by Anthony Satterwhite, were mostly operated under the name Mile High Pizza Company LLC. As of early Thursday, Domino's had not confirmed the closings, but they appeared on Google as permanently closed and were removed from the pizza chain's online store locator tool.

Phone lines to some of the restaurants were unanswered, and neither Domino's nor Satterwhite responded to multiple requests for comment. Satterwhite's mailbox was full when contacted by Fast Company. The closures have been rumored in local Facebook groups in and around Mansfield, Ohio, due to financial uncertainties for the franchisee.

The list of closed locations includes 11 stores across Ohio, though the list may not be exhaustive. The closure of these stores could impact the number of employees working at these locations. While Domino's overall store footprint has been growing, with 7,231 locations in the U.S. as of June 14, same-store sales growth has slowed in the U.S. to 0.1% in the second quarter, compared to 3.4% in the same period a year earlier.

Domino's stock has seen a significant decline in value this year, with a 24.41% decrease year-to-date and 28.65% over the past 12 months.
