China ready to help Trump meet North Korea’s Kim

North Korea is seeking printing and packaging technology from China, aiming to enhance the quality of product packaging, labels, and promotional materials. This strategic move indicates the country's desire to establish its own production system within its borders. Chinese sources reveal that North Korean trading companies and production unit representatives have recently approached Chinese businesspeople regarding various equipment, including printing and finishing machinery.

The push for printing equipment aligns with North Korea's regional development policy, which emphasizes modernizing production facilities nationwide. Historically, North Korea outsourced packaging, label, and trademark production to Chinese firms, mainly for high-end export goods. However, the country is now aspiring to produce these materials domestically.

The demand for new printing equipment extends to both domestic consumer goods and export products, with standards for labels and packaging continually rising. North Korean representatives are particularly interested in offset and digital printers for creating promotional materials, booklets, and flyers, as well as folding and binding equipment, and finishing machinery for producing boxes, stickers, and labels.

The primary focus is on acquiring small and midsize machinery, along with acquiring the technical knowledge required to operate these machines efficiently and effectively. In addition to seeking equipment, North Korean representatives are also exploring joint venture opportunities with Chinese businesspeople who have prior experience working with North Korea.

These collaborations aim to provide support for worker training and test operations within North Korea, ultimately helping the country build a self-sufficient printing and packaging production system. This shift in North Korea's approach to product competitiveness reflects the increasing recognition that a product's appearance and promotional value are crucial alongside its actual contents.

As North Korea continues to expand local industrial factories and diversify goods, the demand for higher-quality packaging, labels, instruction manuals, and promotional materials is expected to grow.
