Umno akan pastikan Malaysia untuk semua, bukan hanya Melayu, kata Tok Mat

Umno remains a centrist party for all Malaysian citizens, not just Malays, according to Deputy President Mohamad Hasan. Addressing the opening of the 2026 Women, Youth and Princess Conference, Hasan stressed that Umno aims to make Malaysia a home for everyone, well-organized and managed in accordance with the Constitution. He reminded that we shouldn't constantly think of our constituents as only Malays, and cautioned against arousing unnecessary fear among non-Malays and our friends in Sabah and Sarawak.

Hasan, known as "Tok Mat" among party members, emphasized that Umno needs the confidence of non-Malays and parties in Sabah and Sarawak to form a government in the politically volatile Malaysia. These groups are now the key decision-makers, he said, adding that the era associating them with a "savings deposit" has become a memory.

Addressing concerns among non-Malays about Malaysia's policy dominance by Malay-Islam, Hasan reiterated that Umno has always been a centrist party. "Our ideology is centrist," he said, reiterating that Umno is the mainstream group and will always seek a middle path. Its commitment is to balance the basic ideas of the left and right, as a moderate national party.

Hasan also warned potential Umno collaborators not to impose conservative or radical ideologies on the party. "We've been tested for decades by managing and governing the country with simplicity, fundamentals, principles, and priorities, even as a national party," he said. Anyone wishing to work with Umno must accept Umno's simplicity and centrist attitude.
