Umno akan pastikan Malaysia untuk semua, bukan hanya Melayu, kata Tok Mat

Umno remains a centrist party aimed at all Malaysians, not just Malays, claimed its deputy president Mohamad Hasan. Speaking at the 2026 Women, Youth and Lady Congress celebration, he reiterated that Malaysia must become a home for all, prosperous and well-managed, in line with the Federal Constitution. He urged people not to think of their constituencies solely as Malays and to avoid stirring fear among non-Malays and those in Sabah and Sarawak.

As Tok Mat, he reminded fellow members that Umno requires trust from non-Malays and parties in Sabah and Sarawak to form a government in Malaysia's turbulent political climate. These groups are now the key determinants, he added, emphasizing that they are no longer just a safe deposit, as was once thought. Concerns from non-Malays about the direction of the nation under Malay-Islam dominance were mentioned, with Mohamad noting that Umno has always been a centrist party.

"Our ideology is centrist," he reiterated. "I reiterate that Umno is the middle and will always walk the middle path. We will not lean left or right. Our pledge is to balance the core ideas of the left and right, as a moderate national party." He also warned potential Umno collaborators not to impose conservative or radical ideologies on the party.

It has been tested over decades with a simple approach, foundation, principle and priority in governance, even as a national party. Anyone wishing to work with Umno must accept Umno's simplicity and middle-tier attitude, he concluded.
