UDST showcases next-gen sustainable mobility innovations

Doha, Qatar recently witnessed UDST (University of Doha for Science and Technology) unveil cutting-edge sustainable transportation innovations at the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum. Associate Dean and Director of the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mobility, Prof. Raja Mazuir Shah, emphasized the university's dedication to supporting Qatar's environmental objectives through its research.

Key highlights included a Level 3 autonomous vehicle system developed by UDST students which previously competed in the Shell Eco-marathon in Poland. The university also displayed an electric dhow (e-dhow) designed to decarbonize maritime transport and promote eco-friendly tourism, aligning with Qatar's 2030 sustainability targets. Additionally, an innovative e-scooter was showcased, equipped with an intelligent system to manage hazards in urban settings, thereby minimizing risks.

The faculty and students also presented multi-purpose drone technologies applicable in various fields, from agricultural monitoring to surveillance. Looking ahead, CeSMO plans to delve into alternative energy systems, including hydrogen technology and alternative fuels. Prof. Shah underscored the importance of strategic industry collaboration, emphasizing that public-private partnerships are crucial for translating research into marketable solutions.

Prof. Shah reiterated UDST's vision to become a leading center in sustainable mobility on both national and international stages, aligning with frameworks like the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Global Decarbonisation Agenda. His statement highlighted that CeSMO's initiatives strictly adhere to these local and global standards, ensuring the university remains at the forefront of sustainable transportation innovation.
