A technical glitch has led to the cancellation of over 400 flights across major British airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham. British Airways and easyJet were among the hardest hit airlines. A UK-wide air traffic control system failure caused the widespread disruption, but the issue appears to be under control as the airline's system begins to recover.

British Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander acknowledged the problem and stated that engineers are working to resolve it. Other airports such as Jersey, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton, Belfast, and Edinburgh also experienced some operational disruptions. According to Flightradar24 data shared by Europa Press, 425 flights were canceled in the afternoon of the incident, with easyJet and British Airways most affected, losing 137 and 111 flights respectively.

KLM, Eurowings, and Ryanair also reported significant cancellations. Airlines are taking steps to minimize the impact on passengers, offering free transfers, refunds, meals, and hotel accommodations where necessary.
