New Apple CEO unveils latest iPhone lineup, including a foldable model called Duo

On Wednesday, Apple unveiled its latest generation of iPhones, including a new foldable model called Duo. John Ternus, Apple's new CEO who took over from Tim Cook on September 1, introduced the lineup at the company's Cupertino, California headquarters.

Ternus highlighted the Duo's largest display ever on an iPhone, which opens to a 7.6 inch screen that is 80% larger than the newest iPhone 18 Pro. The phone can fit into a pocket and even lets users use an Apple Pencil, a feature previously exclusive to iPad users. Ternus described Duo as a device that will "redefine the experience of using a foldable phone."

The Duo will be the most expensive iPhone yet, with a starting price of $1,999. The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, which come with improvements to the battery, camera, and performance, will start at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively. Preorders for these phones began on September 12 and they will be available on September 18, while the Duo will be available on October 23.

The new models boast a long battery life, with up to 45 hours of video playback for the Pro Max, and faster charging. Apple has also enhanced its AI capabilities with the new phones, focusing on privacy and security. While other tech giants like Samsung, Motorola, and Google have already released foldable smartphones, Apple's strategy is to wait for the product to mature and then enter the market.
