Moscow to deploy reservists to intercept drones

The Moscow Military District plans to establish drone-interceptor units composed of reservists. The reservists will be tasked with "reinforcing air defense at critically important facilities," according to the district's press service. These units will primarily operate high-speed interceptor drones. No specific timeline has been announced for deploying these units.

Military officials revealed that instructor retraining is currently in progress, with training for the reservists to follow once that is completed. Reservists are individuals who have voluntarily signed a contract with Russia's Defense Ministry and must remain on standby for potential call-up at any time. Since spring 2026, reservists have been deployed to monitor the skies over the Leningrad region from drones.
