Apple presenta el iPhone Duo, su primer móvil plegable

John Ternus, the new CEO of Apple, took the stage for his inaugural Keynote at Apple Park in Cupertino, marking a new era for the company. The keynote focused on Apple's bet on AI and the iPhone as a core part of their strategy. During the event, Ternus unveiled the iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable phone, along with enhancements to the camera on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max and a price increase for the mobile devices.

The iPhone Duo sports a completely new design but retains the essence of the iPhone. When opened, it features a 7.6-inch screen - 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro. A whopping 90% of the surface area is dedicated to the display, with minimal bezels. This expansive space can be utilized like an iPad with the Apple Pencil, making it the first iPhone to support Apple's digital pencil.

Apple aims to disrupt a market dominated by Samsung and Huawei with the iPhone Duo. According to IDC, the company could boost sales of this single product to 10 million units within its first year, generating $27 billion in revenue. By 2027, Apple aims to become the market leader, holding a 40% share in units and a 52% share in value.

The focus for the rest of the year will be on the iPhone 18 models, which are not yet available for purchase. These devices will introduce the A20 chip, a 2-nanometer processor built alongside the latest Macs, and designed to handle AI locally. The new chip also aims to improve battery life, with Apple claiming that in the AI-enhanced model, a single charge will offer up to 24 hours of usage, compared to 30 hours for the Pro Max.

Additionally, the camera system sees significant improvements with a 48 MP Fusion Main lens that can automatically adjust its aperture depending on the scene, optimizing light intake – essentially a professional-level camera in your pocket. Despite the upgrades, both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will retain their high-end pricing. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at €1,469 for the 256GB version, €150 more than the base price of the 17 Pro. The Pro Max will start at €1,619, up from €1,469 for the previous year's model.

Apple also refreshes its iconic AirPods, enhancing noise cancellation and adding features typically reserved for the Pro model, such as automatic volume reduction when someone is speaking nearby. The AirPods will also offer live translation, enabling real-time conversation in another language and direct connection to Siri AI for natural dialogue.

Improved battery life, automatic volume control through the earbuds, and superior audio quality are also highlighted, with the AirPods 5 starting at €129. For Apple Watches, the Apple Watch 12 and Ultra 4 are capable of listening. If someone at a restaurant reads your menu and you didn't memorize it, pressing twice on the crown can display everything they said in the last minute.

Siri is responsible for transcribing these conversations, which Apple assures are completely secure. Furthermore, the Apple Watch 12 has increased sensor surface area without increasing the watch's size, providing more accurate measurements of vital signs.
