Apple's iPhone Duo: Everything you need to know

Apple unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, during a highly anticipated event in Cupertino, California. CEO John Ternus praised the thoughtful design, stating that it is unique and similar to the iPad experience. The duo's hinge design and other details mimic the iPad experience. When unfolded, the iPhone Duo boasts the largest iPhone screen ever, with a 7.6-inch inside screen and a 5.4-inch outside screen when folded.

Johny Srouji, Apple's chief hardware officer, highlighted that the device's screen features a non-textured finish created by Apple, surpassing other foldables in quality. The phone can be used in any orientation and is available in star white and night sky colors. Priced at $1,999 for the base model, it will be available for purchase starting October 16.

The iPhone Duo is not Apple's first "Duo" product, as the company previously released a line of Duo laptops from 1992 to 1997. Despite the growing popularity of foldable smartphones, Eric, a cybersecurity vendor, mentioned that the $2,000 price tag is a deterrent for him and others in his field. Meanwhile, Amy also expressed excitement for Apple's upcoming AirPods 5, but less so for the iPhone Duo.

Analysts believe there will be demand for the iPhone Duo, which could contribute to a 25% market share in the foldable market for Apple.
