Apple announces iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone

Apple unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, at a surprise keynote event. The device, described as a book-style phone, opens to reveal a larger, iPad-like screen that can be used for apps, videos, games, and multitasking. When closed, the Duo fits easily in a pocket. The device will start at around $2,000 with 256GB of storage and become available in October.

The iPhone Duo boasts a larger display than any previous iPhone, with an exterior OLED display measuring approximately 5.5 inches and an interior OLED display folding down to about 7.8 inches. The phone features seamless multitasking, allowing users to run two apps side by side or have content transition smoothly when opened or closed.

Apple Pencil support enables the larger screen to be used for handwriting, sketching, and precise creative work. The device also supports hands-free viewing and can be folded into a compact, computer-like setup. Touch ID returns in the side button, enabling users to unlock the Duo whether it's open or closed. The phone can also unlock with a connected Apple Watch. The Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky colors.
