Amrahia Dairy Farms Property Owners Run To Mahama For Help

Amrahia Dairy Farms property owners have approached President John Mahama for assistance, alleging that their homes and properties were demolished without a court order. Dressed in red and singing traditional songs, the protesters presented a petition to the Ghana Police Service's Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and subsequently to the Presidency.

They are demanding an investigation into the alleged illegal demolition, describing it as a violation of their fundamental human rights. The Amrahia Dairy Farms Property and Land Owners Association's Chairman, Prosper Joemens Rhormiller, stated that the action constituted a breach of residents' rights. The association claims that in 2020, the government realized that compensation had not been paid to pre-acquisition owners, leading to discussions between the then Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, and the affected families.

They further argue that Global Delivery Services, accompanied by armed police officers, arrived in March 2026 with excavators and demolished structures without any court authorization. The protesters allege that Global Delivery Limited claimed to have received a Power of Attorney from the grandson of Solomon Robert Oddamtten, who supposedly owned the land and authorized the company to manage the property.

They also dispute claims by Global Delivery Limited that the Lands Commission had instructed the demolition, emphasizing that the Commission's role is to manage state lands, not authorize demolitions. The association maintains that demolitions can only occur with a court order and that inconsistencies in documents from the Lands Commission suggest the demolition targeted Oyarifa-affiliated individuals rather than Amrahia-affiliated ones.

President Mahama's presidential aide, Dr. Samuel Ayeh, assured the protesters that their concerns would be addressed, commending their commitment to the rule of law and peaceful demonstration methods.
