Amrahia Dairy Farms Landowners Petition Mahama Over Demolitions

Prosper Joemens Rhormiller and other landowners at Amrahia Dairy Farms submitted a petition to President John Mahama, alleging that their homes and properties were demolished without proper legal authority. The protesters, dressed in red, presented their petition at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service before handing it over to the President at the Presidency.

They held signs reading "We need President’s probe into illegal demolition," "Demolition without court order," and "Djato, you are warned." The Association's Chairman and President, Rhormiller, claimed the alleged demolition was a violation of the residents' human rights. He stated that they had acquired their properties from the Amrahia family, one of the pre-acquisition owners, after the government released a portion of the land in 2020.

The group alleged that on March 18, 2026, Global Delivery Services, along with armed police officers, demolished structures without a court order, and claimed that a Power of Attorney from the grandson of the late Solomon Robert Oddamtten authorized the action. The Association disputed this, stating that the Lands Commission had no mandate to authorize demolitions.

They also claimed inconsistencies in documents from the Lands Commission, suggesting the demolition targeted those with Oyarifa grants rather than Amrahia grants. Presidential Aide Dr. Samuel Ayeh received the petition and commended the residents for their commitment to the rule of law, condemning the alleged treatment of the residents as reprehensible. He assured the petitioners that their case would be handled by the appropriate authorities.
