2027: Adebayo promises solar power on every Nigerian roof in 11 months

Social Democratic Party candidate Adewole Adebayo pledges to install solar panels on every Nigerian roof within 11 months of taking office in 2027. During an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time,’ Adebayo outlined plans to establish solar-panel manufacturing factories across the country and train Nigerians in installation and maintenance.

He claimed to have trained about 2,000 people in his hometown through his own solar panel manufacturing experiments. Adebayo suggested potential partnerships with countries like China, Turkey, and India to establish solar-panel factories. He also proposed solar clusters generating 32,000 megawatts of electricity for basic household activities while creating employment.

Adebayo argued that government could invest in strategic sectors like aviation and manufacturing through operating and maintenance contracts, rather than leaving them entirely to private operators. He highlighted that crude oil theft, with an estimated 900,000 barrels stolen, impacts energy security and economic development.
