Joel Kaplan, Meta's chief global affairs officer, emphasized that users maintain control over what Muse can access, a feature Meta's previous AI offerings have been criticized for lacking.

In a statement on social media platforms, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced Muse as a personal agent that comprehends users' goals and works around the clock to assist them. Users can decide which apps and services Muse has access to, and can disconnect them at any time.

The company showcases various uses of Muse on its website, stating that the tool interacts with existing apps to devise methods to expedite tasks. According to Meta's marketing materials, Muse operates in harmony with users' goals, suggesting ideas, creating action plans, tracking progress, and proactively eliminating tasks from users' plates.

Muse represents one of several AI tools Meta has recently announced. Last year, Meta CEO Zuckerberg hired Alexandr Wang of Scale AI to aid in developing products to position Meta as a leader in the sector. Wang described Muse as a "very magical product." Meta's announcement of Muse arrives a day before Apple is anticipated to unveil a range of new products, including a foldable phone.
