Suez Canal Authority explores maritime services, training cooperation with 10 SADC states

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) recently held discussions with a delegation of 10 ambassadors from member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The delegation, led by the SCA's Chairman and Managing Director, Osama Rabie, met at the authority's headquarters in Ismailia Governorate. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential cooperation and knowledge-sharing opportunities with the SADC countries, focusing on fields such as maritime services, training, fisheries development, and marine vessel construction.

The ambassadors represented Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Rabie emphasized the SCA's previous experience in cooperation with Arab and African nations, as well as its involvement in international projects, including the development and reopening of Libya's Port of Sirte after a 14-year closure.

Rabie also highlighted an existing agreement between the SCA and the Namibian Ports Authority, which covers port modeling and technical training. During the meeting, Zambia's Ambassador to Egypt, Topply Mulambo Lubaya, expressed interest in further exploring areas of cooperation with the SCA. He noted that the Suez Canal serves as an ideal destination for economic cooperation, describing it as a cornerstone of Egypt's economic development and a strategic artery for global navigation.
