Singapore Airlines adds relief flights and retimes services to Jakarta after Anak Krakatau eruption

Singapore Airlines has adjusted its Singapore-Jakarta flight schedule and added eight relief services after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia, which caused disruptions at the main Indonesian airport. The carrier announced that it will operate four additional flights from Singapore to Jakarta and four return flights to facilitate the transfer of affected travelers.

The airline stated that the extra flights are contingent on seat availability, and passengers will be rebooked progressively on the next available services. Singapore Airlines advised customers to check their flight status on the airline's website for the latest updates. The airline also informed that several scheduled flights on the same day had been retimed due to volcanic activity.

Flights departing from Singapore to Jakarta, including SQ950, SQ952, and SQ956, have been changed, while flights from Jakarta to Singapore, such as SQ953, SQ955, and SQ957, have also been adjusted. All other flights are scheduled as planned, and the airline urged customers to keep their contact details updated or subscribe to mobile notifications for real-time information.

Mount Anak Krakatau, located about 150km from Jakarta, erupted over the weekend, causing multiple airports to halt operations. Singapore Airlines cancelled 18 flights the previous day and one Jakarta-bound service early this morning. The airline expressed apologies to affected travelers and stated that its teams are working to assist with rebooking efforts as flights resume.
