SIA to add 8 relief flights between Singapore and Jakarta for customers affected by Mount Anak Krakatau eruption

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will introduce eight additional relief flights between Singapore and Jakarta to assist passengers impacted by the volcanic eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau on September 6, 2023. The extra flights will operate if there is available seat capacity, according to the airline. Four of the flights will depart from Singapore to Jakarta, while the remaining four will return to Singapore.

Mount Anak Krakatau, located approximately 150km from Jakarta, erupted on Saturday, releasing lava and volcanic ash, leading to the closure of the main airport in Indonesia for several days. SIA stated that the extra flights will be progressively rebooked for affected customers as flights resume between Singapore and Jakarta.

As of midnight on Tuesday, SIA's website showed that six flights scheduled to depart on Tuesday morning had been rescheduled for the afternoon. All other flights currently operate as planned. On Monday, the airline canceled 18 flights, and one flight scheduled to depart Jakarta early on Tuesday was also canceled.
