Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian capital kill 2 people, ending pause in attacks

Kyiv, Ukraine - Two individuals lost their lives and at least ten others sustained injuries following a Russian drone and missile assault on the Ukrainian capital overnight on Tuesday, according to local authorities. This incident occurred after a brief truce over the weekend, which was disrupted by the arrival of U.S. diplomats Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in Kyiv for their inaugural official mission aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The attack resulted in damage and fires in no less than five different districts of the city, as reported by Ukraine's State Emergency Service. The Kyiv City Military Administration issued a statement on Telegram, detailing the extent of the destruction, which affected civilian infrastructure in no fewer than sixteen locations. A 26-story non-residential structure was targeted in the Holosiivskyi district, while another incident in the same area led to a fire that engulfed a nearby non-residential building.

Emergency responders managed to rescue one individual from the rubble during a search operation, and two more people were successfully evacuated from an apartment in a 16-story residential building. Furthermore, several people found themselves trapped in a five-story residential building located in the Solomianskyi district, with a minimum of ten individuals successfully rescued, as per the available information.
