Over RM1bil spent to address water supply issues, says Sabah CM

The Sabah Chief Minister, Hajiji Noor, disclosed that the state government has allocated more than RM1 billion to resolve water supply challenges in the region. This investment encompasses the replacement of aging water pipes across most districts, as well as the restoration of pipes that have been stolen. Additionally, one of the two or three significant water projects is anticipated to be completed by the year's end, while the project in Tawau is approximately 50% to 60% finished, according to Noor.

The chief minister emphasized that the government is committed to addressing fundamental issues concerning water, electricity, and road infrastructure in Sabah. Furthermore, the state has adopted an open policy to encourage investments, ensuring the state continues to thrive economically. Noor stated that the government has designed a policy to support developers and foreign investors, fostering economic activities and generating employment opportunities for the locals.

Noor highlighted that the development in Sabah is a collective effort, requiring cooperation from various parties, including the private sector, implementation agencies, entrepreneurs, and the general populace. He reiterated that the government's role is not the sole responsibility for development; rather, it necessitates collaboration from all stakeholders to ensure the state's progress.
