My email, social media flooded with ‘hogwash’ on Tinubu – Fani-Kayode attacks US firm working for Atiku

Former Nigerian Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has vehemently criticized US-based lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York LC, alleging that it disseminates false and misleading information about President Bola Tinubu. Fani-Kayode, in a series of messages on his X account, expressed outrage over the barrage of "hogwash" targeted at the Nigerian president via email and social media.

He denounced Von Batten and his firm for attempting to portray Tinubu as a criminal without any evidence of criminal activity. Fani-Kayode dismissed claims that Tinubu allegedly attempted to bribe Von Batten with $3 million to keep quiet, asserting that such allegations were baseless. He urged those involved in pursuing legal action against Tinubu in the United States to allow the courts to handle the matter, emphasizing that social media campaigns and lobbying efforts would not sway the president's political destiny.

Fani-Kayode questioned Von Batten's identity, alleging that the US-based lobbyist adopted the surname Von Batten through marriage and queried his academic qualifications, citing a lack of credible evidence to support claims of attending prestigious institutions. He also accused Von Batten of misleading Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, by charging $1.2 million for pursuing futile legal and lobbying efforts against Tinubu.

Fani-Kayode firmly stated that Tinubu's political future is determined by the Nigerian people and God, not by external attempts to influence or discredit him.
