Hanya Serian catat IPU sangat tak sihat

Air quality in Serian, Sarawak has once again reached hazardous levels today, according to an Air Pollution Index (IPU) reading of 302 recorded at 9:15 am. This marks the second time this morning that the air quality in the area has entered the dangerous range. The Environment Department's IPU Management System portal reports that three other areas in Sarawak also recorded extremely unhealthy air quality readings of 249, 235, and 233 for Kuching, Sri Aman, and Samarahan, respectively.

Additionally, seven other Sarawak locations reported unhealthy air quality, with readings of 184, 183, 178, 170, 169, 166, and 165 for Mukah, Sarikei, Samalaju, Bintulu, Miri Industrial Training Institute, Sibu, and Miri, respectively. In Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, eight areas also recorded unhealthy air quality, including Johan Setia (168), Shah Alam (164), Banting (159), Batu Muda (158), Klang (156), Cheras (155), Petaling Jaya (154), and Kuala Selangor (152).

Ten other locations across the country recorded unhealthy air quality, such as Tasek Ipoh (161) and Seri Manjung in Perak (159), Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (157), Tanjung Malim in Perak (156), Putrajaya (155), Pegoh in Perak, and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan (152), Alor Gajah (143), and Bukit Rambai in Melaka (141), as well as Labuan (118).

In total, 24 locations nationwide recorded simple air quality, while only Kangar and Langkawi achieved good air quality, with readings of 48 and 34, respectively. An IPU reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 indicates moderate quality, 101 to 200 indicates unhealthy air quality, 201 to 300 indicates very unhealthy air quality, and readings above 300 are categorized as hazardous.

Yesterday, the King, Sultan Ibrahim, approved the suspension of the emergency declared in Serian the previous Friday.
