GNFS responds to two fire incidents at Anyinam, Akyem Asafo

On Monday, September 7, the Bunso Fire Station dealt with two separate fire incidents in Anyinam and Akyem Asafo. In the first incident, a commercial fire was reported near the main lorry station at Anyinam. A six-person crew led by ADO II Annan responded and found the already-extinguished fire, believed to be caused by an electrical fault.

The crew performed overhaul operations to prevent reignition and salvaged items like mattresses, a TV stand, wooden ceiling, and plastic chairs. Two standing fans were destroyed in the blaze, but no casualties were reported. The occupants were given fire safety instructions.

Later that day, the same fire station responded to a vehicle fire involving a black Mazda CX-7 on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in Akyem Asafo. The call came in at 1033 hours, and a seven-person crew led by ADO II Amankwah Dacosta arrived at 1049 hours. The owner reported hearing an unusual engine sound, parked to investigate, and witnessing smoke before the vehicle caught fire.

Bystanders tried to flip the vehicle, exacerbating the flames. The crew extinguished the fire using foam concentrate by 1110 hours. The vehicle was completely destroyed, but again, no casualties were recorded. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
