GNFS responds to fire incidents at Anyinam and Akyem Asafo

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to two separate fire incidents in the Eastern Region on September 7, 2026, with no reported casualties. The first incident occurred near the main lorry station at Anyinam when a six-member crew from the Bunso Fire Station extinguished a fire caused by an electrical fault. They found the blaze already under control upon arrival at 4:45 a.m. and conducted an overhaul to prevent reignition.

Partially damaged items included mattresses, a television stand, a wooden ceiling, and plastic chairs. Completely destroyed were two standing fans, while gas cylinders, chairs, a mattress, bench, and table were salvaged.

Later that day, a vehicle fire involving a black Mazda CX-7 on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Akyem Asafo prompted a response from the Bunso Fire Station. Upon arrival at 10:49 a.m., a seven-member team led by ADO II Amankwah Dacosta tackled the blaze with foam concentrate, extinguishing it by 11:10 a.m. The Mazda CX-7 was completely destroyed, but no casualties were reported.

The cause of the vehicle fire is under investigation. The GNFS has been urging the public to report fire incidents promptly and practice fire safety precautions to minimize risks to lives and property.
