George Strait to Be Honored at Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony for Helping Songwriters

George Strait is set to receive a special honor at the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony on October 26 at Nashville’s Music City Center. The award, known as the career maker award, recognizes his significant impact on the careers of many members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. This is the second time Strait has received this accolade, with Reba McEntire being the only previous recipient in 2018.

Strait expressed his gratitude, stating, "I’m so honored to be receiving the career maker award from the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. I look forward to being there with some of the most talented hall of fame songwriters I’ve been so lucky to be associated with throughout my career." Throughout his four-decade career, Strait has recorded 264 songs written or co-written by 72 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame writers, including 44 who were not yet inducted when Strait first recorded their songs.

Rich Hallworth, chair of the organization's board of directors, praised Strait's contributions, saying, "Throughout his phenomenal career as an artist, George Strait has played an integral role in helping more than 40 songwriters achieve induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, which is why we want to express our gratitude to him on Nashville Songwriting’s Most Legendary Night."

Hall of fame songwriter Gretchen Peters, who cowrote Strait's "The Chill of an Early Fall," added, "Having George Strait record a song of mine, especially so early in my career, felt like nothing less than a stamp of approval from Country music itself." The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame will induct Taylor Swift, Bruce Channel, Lyle Lovett, Shawn Camp, and Lee Thomas Miller alongside Strait during the ceremony.
