‘Artificial’ Trailer: First Look at Andrew Garfield as Sam Altman in Creepy Biopic

The first trailer for Luca Guadagnino's "Artificial" was released on Tuesday, featuring Andrew Garfield's portrayal of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. While the trailer went viral, Jack Altman, Sam Altman's brother and partner at venture capital firm Benchmark, expressed his disappointment. "Artificial" stars Garfield as Altman and Ike Barinholtz as OpenAI co-founder Elon Musk. The film was set to premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival on October 5, but was picked up by Neon and will have a limited theatrical release on Christmas Day before a wider release in January 2027.

The teaser shows Garfield's Altman walking through an OpenAI compound that leads to a vault filled with dangerous weaponry, as Altman declares, "We opened Pandora's Box together. The future is inevitable … Countries will fall. Industries are gonna collapse, and we get to be the ones to shepherd people into this new world."
