GCC Secretary-General condemns Houthi attacks on civilian, economic sites in Saudi Arabia

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has harshly condemned the recent attacks carried out by the Houthi group against various civilian and economic sites in Saudi Arabia. Albudaiwi unequivocally denounced these assaults, which targeted civilians, national assets, infrastructure, and objects, resulting in injuries among the populace.

Albudaiwi emphasized that these attacks were blatant violations of international laws and norms, showcasing a clear disregard for civilian safety and regional stability. He pointed out that these recurring incidents reveal the Houthi group's intentions and their outright rejection of all efforts towards achieving peace and stability in Yemen.

The targeting of civilian facilities and national capabilities, Albudaiwi stressed, is an unacceptable act that cannot be justified or condoned under any circumstances. He warned that if the Houthi group continues with such hostile practices, it poses a direct threat to the international community, regional security, and peace.

In response to these violations, Albudaiwi called for the international community to adopt a firm and deterrent stance against such acts, hold perpetrators and their supporters accountable, and halt this ongoing conduct that jeopardizes regional security and the well-being of its people. He reiterated the solidarity of GCC member states with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing full support for the Kingdom in its efforts to safeguard its security, stability, sovereignty, and national capabilities.

Albudaiwi wished for a swift and full recovery for those injured in the attacks and reaffirmed the GCC's complete backing for all measures and actions undertaken by the Kingdom to protect its territory, citizens, and residents.
