Fugro joins EU mission to create Europe’s Digital Twin Ocean

Fugro is collaborating on a European initiative called OCEANITY, which is part of the Horizon Europe-funded project to develop decision-ready applications for coastal and marine stakeholders through the European Digital Twin Ocean. This initiative aims to help governments, industries, and citizens test the outcomes of their decisions before acting upon them, providing crucial insights to navigate climate and environmental challenges.

Fugro will be responsible for co-designing the EDITO applications and managing stakeholder engagement, ensuring the technology is tailored to user needs and real-world use cases. The project, which will run from September 2026 to August 2029, will create three user-driven applications focused on Coastal & Urban Resilience, Marine Spatial Planning, and Sustainable Maritime Operations.

These applications will be co-designed with the end-users and tested across Europe's four sea basins to ensure they address real-world challenges. The project is led by the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) and involves a consortium of private sector, academic, SME, and research institutions dedicated to creating tools that reflect real-world needs.
