Convoy blockade: Obi just looking for trouble – Benue Govt

The Benue State government has accused Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), of intentionally causing disruption. Solomon Iorpev, Commissioner for Information, made these remarks in reaction to Obi's convoy being blocked during a visit to the state on Tuesday. Iorpev criticized Obi for not formally notifying the state government before his visit, stating that it was a violation of protocol.

As a former governor and significant political figure, the government bears the responsibility of ensuring his safety and protection. Iorpev noted that a letter should have been sent to the State Government for such a high-profile individual. He emphasized that they were supposed to guarantee his safety, but failed to do so due to the lack of prior notification.

This was not the first time Obi had caused trouble, according to Iorpev, who described him as someone always looking for trouble. He expressed disappointment that the youths from all 23 Local Government Areas of Benue, who were attending a meeting at the same time as Obi's visit, had blocked the road.
