Apple adds 37 hardware identifiers ahead of ‘Surprise and Shine’ event

Apple has recently added a total of 37 new hardware identifiers for a variety of devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, Apple TVs, and products in its HomeAccessory category. This information was spotted by Aaron Perris on X, and it is believed that Apple might unveil at least some of these devices during its upcoming "Surprise and Shine" event. The company has been preparing its backend in anticipation of the event, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The new hardware identifiers include seven for iPhones, nine for Macs, eight for iPads, nine for Apple Watches, one for Apple TV, and three for products in Apple's HomeAccessory category. While many of these identifiers have yet to be linked to specific devices, some align with products that Apple is rumored to be developing, and they could potentially be announced at the event.

These include the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, a new Apple TV, the anticipated M6-powered iMac and MacBook Pro models, and a new OLED iPad mini, among other possibilities.

It is worth noting that the extra hardware identifier for iPhones may not necessarily represent a brand new device, but rather a variant of one of the six models that are currently rumored to be part of the iPhone 18 lineup. These models include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra. However, if the identifier does indeed correspond to a new device, it could potentially join the lineup of newly announced products, which are expected to be revealed early next year alongside the iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, and iPhone 18e.
