APC will rule beyond 2031– FCT minister, Mariya

Mariya Mahmud, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will maintain its grip on Nigeria's governance beyond 2031. Speaking at the launch of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in Kano, she firmly stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve his full second term before transferring power to another APC successor. She emphasized that there would be "no vacancy in the Villa till 2031."

Mahmud described the CBM as a platform to mobilize youths and women across the grassroots to ensure Tinubu's re-election and maintain the party's dominance. She highlighted the significant youth population in Nigeria, stating that if capable young people are left behind, success cannot be achieved. She cited reforms in Abuja, such as the student loan scheme (NELFUND), as examples of Tinubu's achievements that will be highlighted during the upcoming general elections.

The minister also praised the CBM for including women in the movement, asserting that their participation is crucial to the party's success. CBM Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, unveiled plans to expand the movement's membership to 10 million across the nation. Shoga stressed that reaching this goal would allow the movement to shape the country's future.

He urged members to engage communities, markets, schools, and universities to spread the message of Tinubu's "renewed Hope Agenda," with a focus on preparing the younger generation for future leadership roles.

Earlier, Nasir Bala Ja’oji, the CBM Coordinator in Kano state and APC candidate for Tarauni constituency, revealed that the state chapter had already registered 189,111 members, making it the leading state in the CBM's membership drive.
