2027: Shettima charges on peaceful, issue-based campaign

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged those campaigning on the All Progressive Congress (APC) joint ticket to ensure their mobilization for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains peaceful and issue-based. Speaking in Abuja on Monday during the inauguration of the National Working Committee of Transporters for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, Shettima emphasized the significant role transporters play in connecting communities. The Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, represented Shettima at the event.

Shettima highlighted that transport workers are more than just operational duty performers; they are the nation's ambassadors. He described them as credible witnesses to the administration's challenges and acknowledged their crucial role in transporting people and goods across the country daily. In June 2026, Shettima welcomed the transport workers to "the fold of patriots who've come together to promote the interests of the nation above misinformation, disinformation, and economic sabotage."

However, Shettima cautioned the transport workers to maintain peace and focus on their campaign issues, stressing that no political objective is enhanced by disorder. He warned against violence, threats, intimidation, misinformation, and all forms of electoral misconduct, urging them to "reject violence, threats, intimidation, misinformation, and every form of electoral misconduct."

Prince Segun Obayendo, the National Coordinator of the Transporters for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, noted that the support of stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector stems from the Tinubu administration's impactful reforms and investments in the sector.
