Anthropic drops plan to acquire AI startup Decart, Bloomberg reports

Anthropic, the creator of the Claude chatbot, has reportedly abandoned its pursuit of acquiring AI startup Decart AI, following exploratory talks and thorough due diligence, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. Despite having been in discussions to purchase the company for approximately US$6 billion, Anthropic ultimately decided against the acquisition.

The companies may still explore other avenues for collaboration, a source familiar with the matter indicated. Neither Anthropic nor Decart provided comments to the press. In August, Bloomberg News reported that Anthropic had been eyeing Decart's software, which aims to reduce the cost of training and operating AI by optimizing chip performance.

Anthropic, known for its cautious approach to large acquisitions, has been allocating resources towards developing new products and enhancing customer service in preparation for its anticipated Wall Street debut, with aspirations to raise funds similar to those raised by SpaceX in its upcoming initial public offering.
