US envoys bring ‘more effective proposals’, Ukraine says, as shuttle diplomacy continues

Washington's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner brought new, "more effective" proposals to Kyiv to help end the war with Russia, according to a senior Ukrainian presidential official. President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the envoys in a trio format, discussing ways to bring peace to the war-torn nation. While both Zelensky and the envoys gave upbeat assessments of the talks, neither announced any breakthroughs on ending the conflict.

The envoys' visit to the Ukrainian capital was their first, as the city has been enduring deadly Russian strikes for over four years. Zelensky expressed hope for agreements with American partners and sought support from European partners if the war continued in winter. He also reiterated his call for a meeting between the two leaders to solve territorial issues.

Moscow occupies large parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, and Russia has said it aims to recognize the occupied land as its own, a demand that is unacceptable to Kyiv. Witkoff and Kushner traveled to Kyiv hoping to revive the Trump administration's push for peace in Europe's worst conflict since World War II.
