US envoys arrive in Ukraine for talks

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, to hold talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. The pair met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, where they reportedly discussed plans for the "next steps" in resolving the conflict. While specifics remain unclear, an announcement about the outcomes is expected in the coming weeks as efforts to end the war intensify.

The talks come after both leaders agreed to a ceasefire for three days, during which time Witkoff and Kushner were negotiating with Putin at the Kremlin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking on social media, stated that his team was "ready for the conversation" and emphasized the need for peace, security guarantees, and a coordinated, substantive, and realistic approach to the talks.

Meanwhile, the war continues, with Russia and Ukraine exchanging strikes overnight. Ukraine confirmed it targeted an oil refinery, an airfield, and two air defense systems, while Russia reportedly launched 108 long-range drones and small cruise missiles, with 82 successfully shot down. Despite these ongoing clashes, both sides have offered positive remarks about the Moscow talks, though no details have been released.

Putin's adviser, Yuri Ushakov, described the discussions as "constructive and extremely frank," mentioning economic issues and potential major, mutually beneficial projects between Russia and the USA.
