Rob Reiner Wins Posthumous Emmy Award For ‘The Bear’

Rob Reiner, the late actor, was honored with a posthumous Emmy Award for his role as Albert in the comedy series "The Bear" at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. This marks Reiner's third Emmy Award, though his last win was nearly 50 years prior. Reiner previously won for his role as Michael "Meathead" Stivic on "All in the Family" in 1974 and 1978.

The posthumous recognition comes months after Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead in a double homicide in December. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances and is set to appear in court on September 15. Reiner's performance as Albert Schnurr in the fourth season of "The Bear" was pivotal, as his advice helped inspire Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) to franchise the restaurant's beef sandwich window, a key storyline in the series' final season.

Although Reiner did not appear in the fifth and final season, the series honored him in its finale by having Ebraheim call Albert to share the news of the franchise. The Emmy Awards will have another opportunity to recognize Reiner next year during the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, where he may be honored in the In Memoriam segment.
