Police, NSCDC beef up security ahead of Tinubu’s wife visit to Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has deployed additional security forces to alternative routes following the closure of the First Niger Bridge for repair works. The Federal Government announced the bridge's closure on September 7th for maintenance. Anambra State Police Commissioner, Nnanna Oji Ama, inspected the bridge's compliance and alternative routes, emphasizing the need for further security measures.

The police spokesperson, speaking to journalists, reported that the CP personally led a team of security officials to assess the bridge, surrounding areas, and diversion routes. The assessment aimed to identify potential security, traffic, and public safety issues and implement proactive measures to address them. As a result, a Police-led Joint Security Team has been assigned to critical locations around the bridge and alternative routes to maintain order, facilitate traffic management, and deter criminal activities.

The Commissioner has also instructed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders within the affected areas to remain vigilant, increase patrols, and coordinate effectively with other security agencies throughout the maintenance period.
