The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has voiced its discontent over the exclusion of the party and its women in the preparations for First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's visit to the state. While the party leadership congratulated the First Lady and welcomed her to Anambra, the APC emphasized that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is misleading President Bola Tinubu by suggesting cooperation, when in reality, the APC is being marginalized from national affairs.

In a statement released on Monday in Awka, the party's state secretary, Sir Obi Okpala, revealed that the APC only became aware of the arrangements through the announcement by the First Lady's office, Dr. Nonye Soludo. The statement expressed the party's concern that as of the time of issuing the statement, neither the leadership of the APC in Anambra, including women leaders, nor recognized party structures had been formally invited or included in the arrangements for the First Lady's visit.

The APC, as the leading national political party and a major stakeholder in Anambra, believes that such an important visit should transcend partisan considerations and offer an opportunity for broad participation, consultation, and inclusion. The party finds it difficult to reconcile the apparent exclusion of the APC and its women structures with the repeated public narrative of "Progressives Are Working Together."

The APC asserts that this rhetoric is solely intended for national television shows and used by APGA to deceive the public and hoodwink APC leadership. The party emphasizes that this should not be seen as an attempt to politicize a humanitarian and empowerment program, but rather as an appeal for greater inclusion and recognition of all stakeholders in the spirit of national unity.
