NPA uses Fetu Afahye to educate consumers on petroleum safety

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) utilized the annual Fetu Afahye celebration in Cape Coast to enhance public awareness about petroleum safety, consumer rights, and complaint resolution avenues. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, NPA officials interacted with chiefs, residents, and festival attendees in Oguaaman, imparting knowledge on the appropriate use of petroleum products and available channels for consumer inquiries and complaints.

During a media interview at the celebration, Tameklo expressed NPA's enthusiasm to engage in a festival that unites individuals from various backgrounds, while simultaneously facilitating direct interaction with the consumers they serve. He emphasized that Fetu Afahye holds significant importance for the people of Oguaaman and Ghana at large.

Tameklo pointed out that the Orange Friday Float, a key component of the festivities, brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds in a lively setting, all of whom are consumers of petroleum products in some capacity.

The NPA's involvement in the event extended beyond the festivities, as the Authority aimed to reinforce crucial messages on petroleum safety and consumer protection through the platform. Tameklo reiterated that stakeholder satisfaction remains a top priority for the NPA's responsibilities in the downstream petroleum regulatory sector.

The Authority affirmed its commitment to safeguarding petroleum consumers through continuous public education, efficient complaint handling, consumer and market intelligence, and regular public engagement across the nation.
