More than 1,000 homes from RM170,000 set to reshape Perak’s housing landscape in Meru

IPOH, Sept 7 — A massive housing development of over 1,000 homes priced between RM170,000 and RM358,000 is set to transform Meru, a township near Ipoh in Perak. Maju Teluk Batik Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Setia Awan Group, unveiled the 1,084-unit Residensi Jati De Meru Phase 1B project, which is expected to be finished by 2029 and handed over to residents by 2030.

The freehold development, with an estimated gross development value of RM291 million, aims to make homeownership accessible to more Malaysians, particularly young families and first-time buyers, according to Setia Awan Group director Doh Fan Kent. The project's strategic location near the North-South Expressway and proximity to essential amenities, such as schools, hospitals, and hypermarkets, make it an attractive option for families seeking an affordable yet convenient living environment close to Ipoh.

With four unit layouts ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom homes, the development is currently about 30 percent complete and set to provide modern amenities such as a multipurpose hall, children’s playground, kindergarten space, and a surau. The developer is also planning to build a splash pool accessible to the public, offering residents a special entry rate.
