LHC Issues New Instructions for Sessions Judges’ Cars

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued new regulations concerning the vehicles assigned to judges who have recently received them, according to a report by 24News. These sessions judges and civil judges in Lahore are no longer permitted to utilize green registration plates, blue warning lights, or the judiciary's monogram on their cars. The new instructions treat these vehicles as private-use vehicles, prohibiting judges from presenting them as official court vehicles.

In response to the notification, additional sessions judges throughout Punjab have informed their peers in various districts about the new guidelines. The report states that 189 cars have been allocated to additional sessions judges, while 400 cars have been distributed to civil judges in Lahore. It is noteworthy that the government will not bear the cost of official maintenance for these vehicles.

Instead, the judges themselves will be responsible for maintenance expenses, and they will only receive the petrol allowance already included in their salaries.

These new regulations come into effect following the issuance of a notification by Lahore Sessions Judge Tariq Khurshid Khawaja to additional sessions judges and civil judges in Lahore, as per the report.
