KCR’s silence on Speaker’s abuse amounts to his approval: Sridhar Babu

Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu has urged the Leader of the Opposition, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, to issue a full apology to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar for allegedly using abusive language towards him. At a press conference, Mr. Babu expressed his disapproval of the use of "filthy language" against the Dalit Speaker, stating that the incident was not just about one individual, but a larger social issue concerning the dignity and self-respect of four crore people in Telangana.

Mr. Babu alleged that BRS leaders attempted to forcefully grab the collars of police personnel to incite a disturbance. He contended that the BRS government had established rules regarding the prohibition of placards and objectionable materials within the House, which Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was aware of and adhered to. Babu affirmed that if the allegations against BRS women legislators, who claimed they faced wrongful treatment by the police, were proven true, the government would take appropriate action.

The Minister emphasized that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's threat to bring a no-confidence motion against the Speaker was unacceptable, and the government would not be intimidated by such threats. He clarified that Gate 3 of the Assembly also falls under the Speaker's jurisdiction, asserting that all actions should be conducted within the proper boundaries defined by the Speaker.
