India rescuers search for trapped survivors after deadly Delhi building collapse

Rescue workers in New Delhi are sifting through the wreckage of a five-story building that collapsed on Monday, resulting in at least six fatalities, according to officials. Emergency personnel remain concerned that more individuals may be trapped beneath the rubble. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which attended to the victims, reported receiving ten patients, five of whom were pronounced dead upon arrival at the trauma center.

One individual, who was in critical condition, passed away shortly after. Disaster response teams, alongside fire and police units, are employing heavy machinery and search dogs to identify any remaining survivors in the debris. The Satya Niketan neighborhood, where the building was located, is known for housing numerous university students in densely populated living arrangements.

Building collapses and the prevalence of unauthorized structures are common occurrences in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident.
