Dolly Parton's sister, Stella Parton, has requested that social media users refrain from spreading AI-generated posts following the country star's passing. Tributes to Parton have been shared online and at sites such as the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, after her death on August 25 at age 80. In an Instagram post, Stella praised genuine fans' support but expressed difficulty absorbing the "tremendous amount of AI and endless garbage" being posted.

She urged people to show more compassion and respect in their responses to Parton's death, following similar appeals from families of late celebrities like Robin Williams' and Robert Redford's daughters. The singer herself expressed concern over AI's potential to replace human voices and creations, stating that while she sees value in AI for science and medicine, it "scares me" to see it used to replace people.
