Clashes claim 2 lives in Bauchi

On September 4th, 2026, two individuals lost their lives in Bauchi State following violent clashes that erupted over a criminal incident. The Bauchi State Police Command arrested seven suspects connected to the alleged conspiracy, incitement of disturbance, and culpable homicide.

According to the Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the violence began when Ibrahim El-Safwan, also known as Jabala’i, conspired with accomplices and attacked Abdulrahman Nuru, a 29-year-old tricycle rider from Bundot area. The assailant stabbed Nuru with cutlasses on various parts of his body before the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps intervened and took custody of the tricycle and one suspect.

The incident sparked tensions in the area, prompting youths from Bundot area to arm themselves with cutlasses and other weapons, and march towards the Bayan Fada area in search of retribution. This led to a violent confrontation between the two groups near Dass’ Central Motor Park, where another victim, Mukhtar Jibrin, a 38-year-old man from Bayan Fada area, was stabbed.

Mukhtar was rushed to General Hospital, Dass, and then transferred to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he too was pronounced dead.

Detectives quickly acted to de-escalate the situation and restore normalcy, leading to the arrest of seven suspects: Umar Abubakar, 20, Blus Garba, 19, Adamu Muhammad, 17, Hussaini Danjuma, 17, Hassan Danjuma, 17, Shuaibu Sani, 17, and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices who remain at large.
