Adamawa gov’t suspends schools board boss

The Adamawa State Government has suspended the Executive Secretary of the state’s Post Primary Schools Management Board, Mr Birsan Penuel, due to alleged irregularities in his duties. This decision was made public by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Sunday in Yola. The suspension serves as a precautionary measure to enable a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Wonosikou announced that, in the meantime, the most senior director within the Board will assume responsibility for its operations, ensuring the continuous progression of its activities. He emphasized the administration's ongoing dedication to reforming and revitalizing the education sector for enhanced service delivery. Over the past seven years, the administration has implemented several initiatives, including the recruitment of qualified teachers, the rehabilitation and construction of classrooms, the provision of instructional materials, and the consistent payment of salaries and allowances.

These efforts have contributed to reversing the previously negative trends that had plagued the sector.
