Zverev reaches US Open fourth round with win over Tabilo

New York witnessed Alexander Zverev securing his spot in the fourth round of the U.S. Open on Saturday. The top-seeded German, who had been battling for nine hours and 26 minutes in back-to-back five-set matches against Lorenzo Sonego and Quentin Halys, finally found his rhythm against 25th seed Alejandro Tabilo. Zverev, who clinched his inaugural French Open title and finished as runner-up at Wimbledon, started strongly by breaking Tabilo's serve twice in the opening set, taking a commanding 4-2 lead.

However, Zverev's performance dipped in the second set, which allowed Tabilo, the world number 28, to claim three consecutive games and narrow the gap to just a few points away from leveling the match. Undeterred, Zverev came back stronger, chiding a fan who seemed to be providing coaching advice during a subsequent tiebreak, and ultimately tightened his grip on the game.

Zverev's relentless pursuit saw him take control in the third set, with a score of 5-2, sealing his place in the Round of 16 where he will face the 21st-seeded Italian Luciano Darderi.
