Zelensky in fresh talks with US envoys: Ukraine official

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine is holding fresh talks with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv, according to a senior Ukrainian official. These talks come after initial discussions, and the senior official stated that the current talks are more effective than before. Witkoff and Kushner, both former associates of former President Donald Trump, visited Kyiv following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Zelensky expressed hope that agreements could be reached with American partners, while also counting on support from European allies if the war continues into winter. He emphasized the importance of a meeting between the two leaders to resolve territorial issues, as Russia has occupied large portions of eastern and southern Ukraine.

Witkoff and Kushner conveyed a sense of progress during their discussions, while Zelensky reiterated his call for negotiations between the two leaders. British, French, and German representatives also attended the talks, which have been ongoing since Russia's invasion in 2022. Despite the ceasefire pledges, fighting continues in other areas of Ukraine.
