US envoys have ‘more effective proposals’, says Ukraine official

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed hope that the US envoys have introduced more effective proposals to end the ongoing conflict with Russia, according to a senior Ukrainian presidential official. The envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, visited Kyiv after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

While both Zelensky and the US envoys held upbeat assessments of the discussions, no breakthroughs were announced regarding the conflict's resolution. The senior official noted that the new proposals were different from previous discussions and emphasized that the talks were of utmost importance. Both Witkoff, who is President Donald Trump's business ally, and Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, traveled to Kyiv after their meeting with Putin.

Zelensky expressed optimism about reaching agreements with American partners and called for European support, especially if the war continues in the winter. The US delegation arrived in Kyiv by train, with the "Peace Express" written on the platform at Kyiv Central Station. Despite the optimism, many Ukrainians remain skeptical about the prospects for a breakthrough, with some expressing a lack of hope in the current negotiations.
